Local MP Bill Wiggin is continuing his campaign to bring access improvements to Leominster station as early as possible. This Friday (12 March 2010, at 11.30am) Bill, who has fought to get funding for access improvements, will be meeting with Network Rail at Leominster station after concerns were raised that there were now delays with completing the works in 2011 as previously promised. Bill, who has been in regular correspondence with the Department for Transport, Network Rail and Arriva Trains over the matter, said:

“We have all fought very hard to get the commitment and funding to improve access at Leominster station to support disabled commuters. While we are delighted that there has been a commitment given to bring Leominster station up to standard, local commuters want to see these vital improvements implemented as soon as possible.

“I hope that after coming to Leominster station this week Network Rail will see how important and necessary these works are and will do all they can to improve access.

“I will continue to work with everyone concerned so that people in wheelchairs, with pushchairs and heavy luggage can have easier access to Leominster station.”
