Local MP Bill Wiggin has welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement of a £25 million fund to support 10,000 additional Advanced and Higher Apprenticeships.

This radical new plan will promote the expansion of Apprenticeships up to degree equivalent in companies, and particularly SME’s, where there is unmet demand for higher level skills.

The scheme is now open to bids, both from organisations and industry representatives.

Bill Wiggin MP commented:

‘This is fantastic news which will be welcomed by employers and learners alike.

Apprenticeships are not just about training young people – they are an investment in our future. High tech skills are crucial to achieving both job creation and sustainable economic growth in Herefordshire.

Labour failed because they wasted resources on the ill-conceived Train to Gain scheme. This Government, on the other hand, means business.”
