North Herefordshire MP Bill has welcomed today’s news that Post Office services at Wellington are set to be restored.

Responding to a letter from Post Office Ltd he commented, ‘Shared local services like a village shop or Post Office form the very heart of small rural communities like ours.

They are not only practical but also personal, adding character and interest to basic daily transactions.

I am delighted the Wellington has been given an opportunity to retain these vital facilities.’

At 9am on 13 January 2012 a trial ‘local service’ will be launched from the same location as the former branch at Stock’s Barn. It had been temporarily closed due to the subpostmaster’s resignation last April.

A newly formatted open plan counter will offer a range of key products alongside other retail transactions.
