On Friday 29th June Bill officially opened the new-step free improvement works at Leominster station saying, ‘I’m absolutely delighted that these essential improvements are finally in place.’

Both I and local residents have campaigned relentlessly on this issue. It hasn’t been easy, but the end result is worth it. I look forward to seeing these changes make a big difference to the lives of people in and around Leominster.’

Bill was disappointed that until previously ‘some sections of the population, such as luggage laden passengers and children, have been unable to make full use of their nearest station.’ Now however rail users travelling to or from the area have full access to two new lifts at the rear of the current footbridge. The improvement also includes the widening of the entrance to Platform 1 and the installation of tactile paving on both sides.

Further to modernizing Ledbury station, Mr Wiggin seeks to solve similar issues suffered by the Burcott Road railway bridge. He emphasised the need for first class communications links in Herefordshire, committing himself to the continued pursuit of Ministers and Network Rail alike until the job is done.
