Local MP Bill Wiggin has presented Rayeesa Ashgar-Sandys, of ‘Rayeesa’s Indian Kitchen’, with a Highly Commended Certificate in the 2012 Parliamentary Tiffin Cup.
Now in its seventh year, the contest seeks to find the best South Asian Restaurants across Britain. Members of Parliaments are invited to nominate popular venues and Bill chose the local curry expert to represent North Herefordshire.
During the parliamentary recess Bill visited Rayeesa at a photo-shoot in Pembridge to hand over the prize, a chef’s kit with the Tiffin Cup 2012 logo, and congratulate her in person.
‘Rayeesa’s Indian Kitchen is a wonderful and original venture promoting not only delicious, traditional, Indian food but also the skills needed to make those dishes at home.
In a 500 year-old farmhouse just outside of Mordiford Rayeesa sets about daily combining the flavours of her childhood with top quality, carefully sourced, local ingredients. The results are mouth-watering.
Hard work may be its own reward but I am nevertheless delighted to see Rayeesa’s achievements recognised in this way.
Herefordshire is lucky to have someone with this level of passion and creativity in its midst. I wish her and her family every success for the future.’
