In the run-up to this year’s national Trustees’ Week Bill has thanked local charity trustees for their dedication and highlighted the benefits of getting involved in third sector work.
Charities in North Herefordshire cover a wide range of areas, but all depend on the trustees who oversee their activities. This month’s initiative raises awareness of how people can become trustees themselves – gaining valuable experience and skills in the process.
“We have some fantastic charities here in North Herefordshire making a vital contribution to our society. However, in order to function they need trustees.
As we approach national Trustees’ Week I want to pay tribute to the hard work, energy and enthusiasm of everyone involved in the voluntary sector.
I would strongly encourage people to consider becoming a trustee. It is not only an excellent way to gain new skills but also a fundamentally rewarding and absorbing experience.
Through my own role with the Eveson Charitable Trust I have been lucky enough to meet many inspiring people. It has been an honour and a privilege to get involved.”
Trustees Week runs between 5-11 November 2012. To learn more about the scheme visit http://trusteesweek.blogspot.co.uk.
