Bill took to the streets last Friday when he joined local residents and retailers for the opening morning of Ledbury’s ‘Big Breakfast’.
The event, organised by the Ledbury Food Group in conjunction with ‘Farmhouse Breakfast week 2013’, saw 16 businesses – including cafes, pubs, delis and butchers – open their doors with special promotions, deals and tastings.
Bill arrived bright and early to meet those involved and show his support for Ledbury.
Commenting afterwards he said:
‘Nobody does top-quality, locally-sourced food better than Herefordshire. Ledbury‘s ‘Big Breakfast’ is a great way to celebrate such a wonderful, British and traditional start to the day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my morning, visiting so many local shops and charming cafes, from the brilliant bangers at D.T. Waller & Sons via two more spectacular butchers to cafes such as Mrs Muffins, Blue Fuchsia, Café Sez, Nice Things and the Muse Café as well as many others. All the products on offer were beautifully prepared, wholesome and tasty.
Breakfast is an important, traditional and enjoyable meal. What better way to start the day than with something grown, reared or made right on our doorstep?
The Ledbury Food Group, including Fran Robinson and the excellent guide today Griff Holliday, deserve a huge thank you and well done for masterminding this delightful event. It has been a terrific success and puts Ledbury in the limelight where she deserves to be.’
Since its launch in 2000 Farmhouse Breakfast Week has gone from strength to strength. Last year over 1,000 events and promotions took place and the campaign received extensive media coverage.
