As we head into the winter months I must urge all my constituents to be vigilant when travelling throughout the county – the roads of Herefordshire cause many accidents without the assistance of ice, fading light and merry spirits.

Herefordshire has potholes and roads in dire need of repair. I have been lobbying the Government and Herefordshire Council to ensure the appropriate funding is in place to fix our roads as soon as possible.

On a more positive note I was delighted to see the new unemployment figures for North Herefordshire revealing a combined two month fall in unemployment of 173 people and a fall of over 200 when compared with October 2012.

This has also been a difficult year for many families throughout North Herefordshire while the Government continues try to rebuild the shattered economy we inherited. There are positive signs to be seen in the economy and hopefully next year we will start to feel a little healthier financially.

I would like to wish everyone a very happy New Year.
