Bill Wiggin MP was delighted North Herefordshire’s unemployment rate has fallen for a third month in a row.

New figures from the Office of National Statistics released on Wednesday 11 June show the number of unemployed claimants in Bill Wiggin MPs’ North Herefordshire, constituency, in May 2014 was 658 – a fall of 68 from April 2014 and of 362 compared with May 2013.

Bill Wiggin MP said: “I was delighted to see the unemployment rate fall once again in North Herefordshire to a new low of 658.

“Every time the rate falls another of my constituent’s has secured a job, an important stepping stone to security and success.

“Nationally there are now 1.69 million more people in work than at the 2010 election with two million more private sector jobs created since then too.

“In just three months from March to May 184 people have found jobs in North Herefordshire showing yet again that our county is very much open for business.”

May’s unemployment figure represents a rate of 1.6% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 530th of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)
