Unemployment continues to fall in North Herefordshire reveals Bill Wiggin MP.

The latest figures released by the Office of National Statistics this week show the number of unemployed claimants in Bill Wiggin MPs’ North Herefordshire constituency in September 2014 was 481 – a fall of 28 from August 2014 and of 425 compared with September 2013.

Bill Wiggin MP said: “It is brilliant news for all in North Herefordshire that unemployment is continuing to come down.

This means more people are securing much needed jobs and will discover the strength and stability that employment brings.

As well as this good news locally I am pleased to report that total weekly pay in August 2014 was up by 0.8 per cent over the year.

Nationally over the last year there has also been a fall in youth unemployment of 253,000– the largest annual fall since records began.

I hope next month to be able to offer further good news, as we still have 481 residents who need a job.”

September’s unemployment figure represents a rate of 1.2% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 560th of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)
