Unemployment fell in North Herefordshire the month before Christmas reveals Bill Wiggin MP.

The latest figures released by the Office of National Statistics this week show the number of unemployed claimants in Bill Wiggin MPs’ North Herefordshire constituency in November 2014 was 459 – a fall of 51 from October 2014 and of 327 compared with November 2013.

Bill Wiggin MP said: “I am delighted that more people in North Herefordshire have secured employment in time for Christmas.

The festive season can be a very expensive time of year so it is brilliant news that even more of my constituents are now in much needed jobs and will soon discover the strength and stability that employment brings.

Nationally there is very good news on employment too: with long-term unemployment (over 12 months) down by 104,000 since the election in May 2010 and the number of women in work at a record high of 14.4 million.”

November’s unemployment figure represents a rate of 1.1% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 550th of the 650 UK constituencies. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)
