Bill Wiggin MP has welcomed an extra £3 million from the Government to help Herefordshire.

The Government’s recently announced New Homes Bonus provisional allocation for Herefordshire will in 2015/16 be £3,591,382. This includes an affordable homes premium of £43,400.

Bill Wiggin MP said: “This is very good news for Herefordshire because the Government has already told councils they are free to spend the bonus how they choose.

The New Homes Bonus is a fantastic initiative from the Government to reward those local authorities which promote and welcome growth so they can share in the economic benefits, and build the communities in which people want to live and work.

I look forward to seeing the final allocation confirmed for Herefordshire later this year.”

In total £1.167 billion was divided between English local authorities for the 2015-16 allocations of New Homes Bonus. Taken together with instalments from previous years, this takes the total amount of funding awarded under the New Homes Bonus to almost £3.4 billion.
