Bill lives with his wife Milly in Upton Bishop in Herefordshire. Their three children, Rosie, Jack and Toby, were all born in Hereford Hospital. Bill’s family has strong roots in the area, with Special Metals Wiggin Ltd having been founded by Bill’s great-grandfather.
During the Conservatives’ time in Opposition, Bill served as a Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, and also as Shadow Secretary of State for Wales. After the 2010 General Election, Bill was appointed a Minister in the Government Whips’ Office.
In the 2019 General Election, Bill was elected with a majority of 24,856 in North Herefordshire, the largest majority the constituency had ever seen to that date.
